COASTALVIEWPOINT.COM will be covering the actions of our county commissioners that you will not read in any other publication. This is the place to come when you want to find out what is going on behind the scenes.  And we will tell it to your straight and if we get it wrong, unlike others, we will also publish that along with our apologies.

If you are just checking in for the first time, we need to bring you up to speed.  Four of our county commissioners have been ignoring the other three (and the feelings of most citizens) forcing the county to build the jail in downtown Brunswick.  Already about 4.5 million dollars have been spent with nothing to show for it (other than some property that should never have been bought).  The private property of citizens was taken and torn down and all we have for this is soil.

And after the meeting on Feb. 18, they are moving ahead despite the lack of a vote to spend more money and despite their public denial about wanting to spend any money.

Listen to recording of these commissioners.  We will post the entire recording regarding item 14 in three parts.  It was a disorganized meeting.  How can a meeting be organized if they don't follow Robert's Rules of Order??

We have seen high school clubs ran in a more legal manner than our county.  Isn't there some way to force Robert's Rules of Order on our county commission???

Regarding item 14 (to get some plans on what to do), you can plainly hear that the commissioners only vote on the motion and never vote on the amendment (which should have been voted on first).
From Robert's Rules - Once a motion has been stated by the chair, it is no longer the property of the mover, but of the assembly. Any amendment, "friendly" or otherwise, must be adopted by the full body, either by a vote or by unanimous consent.

Will someone buy Howard Lynn the Robert's Rules?

The "gang of four" are Howard Lynn, Tony Thaw, Don Hogan and Jerome Clark.  We refer to them as the gang of four because they decide what they are going to pass something without regard to sunshine laws and without passing along information to the other three commissioners.  There actions are beyond deplorable.  We believe that their current activities are going to cost us, the citizens of Glynn County, even more millions of dollars for something that the citizens of Glynn County do not want.

Until Amy Callaway, Bob Coleman and/or Tom Sublett demand their own legal representation, and as long as they continue to accept this illegal and irresponsible behavior from the gang of four, the county will suffer.

The Feb. 18th BOC meeting was so disorganized that we are going to break it down for you with video to show the major points.  The main vote (on item 14 was illegal).  Chairman Lynn called for a vote on Hogan's motion  before a vote on the amendment.  Hogan amended his motion with Sublett seconding. Hogan's amendment was that there would be no money spent for the design idea.  But everyone got lost in the rambling disorganization.
